How YOU can help the homeless pit bull epidemic and encourage responsible ownership

May 8th, 2008

Want to know how YOU can help the homeless pit bull epidemic and encourage responsible ownership? Here are some tips:

TIP #1

Encourage your local shelter to start offering free pit bull educational materials to the public. Offer to print the materials yourself and set up a permanent education table at the shelter.

TIP #2

Host a "responsible pit bull owner" workshop in your community. Get local rescues, shelters and dog trainers involved to help you coordinate the workshop.

TIP #3

Start a low cost spay/neuter program for pit bulls, get local vet clinics involved by asking them to offer their services for free or at a reduced cost. Ask local rescues and shelters to help spread the word.

Any of these options can be a stepping stone to opening up communication between your local rescues, shelters, animal control, the public, and responsible pit bull owners.
